Events Updates and Reminders

  • November Events - Sunday the 8th November 2009 is Remembrance Day, there will be a service at the War Memorial in the park, followed by refreshments in the Village Hall. Begins after the 10:55am service in St Oswald's Church.

  • November Events - Sir Geoffrey Bindman will be talking about the radical author, publisher and bookseller, Daniel Isaac Eaton (1970), on the 14th November 2009 at the Wordsworth Trust.

  • November Events - Grasmere School is holding a fundraising event on the 18th November 2009, titled Bodyshop Party, this will be held at the school. Open to all and should be fun.

  • November Events - On the 21st November 2009, the Wordsworth Trust are holding an exhibition entitled, 'A History of Dove Cottage'. Tells the story of Dove Cottage and the occupants during and after the Wordsworths residency.

  • November Events - 'Dora Wordsworth: A Poet's Daughter', the first full publication of Wordsworth's favourite Daughter is being launched by Olena Beal, on the 28th November 2009 at 2pm. Followed by readings and music at 3:30pm.

  • December Events - Foods featuring in 19th Century recipe books will be presented by Peter Bears, food historian, takes place in the Foyle Room at 3pm on the 5th December 2009. Expected to be very popular so book now to avoid disappointment.

  • December Events - Christmas Promenade performance starting from Grasmere School and ending at St Oswald's Church, on 15th December 2009, should it be raining then it will be held in the church. Start time at 6pm.

  • December Events - Christmas Eve Candlelit Carols at 6pm in St Oswald's Church, followed by the First Communion of Christmas Service at 11:30pm.

  • December Events - 11am for the Christmas Communion with Carols in St Oswald's and the Christmas Mass Service begins at 11:15am in Our Lady's Church, on Christmas Day.
Our exterior paintwork has now been completed.

Events Updates and Reminders

  • October Events - "If Winter Comes" concert in St Oswald's Church on the 18th October 2009. Starting at 14:30. Cost £5 at the door.

  • October Events - Wounded Angels and other Readings, a unique opportunity to listen to author Murray Bodo OFM read from his latest poetry and to tell us about his life and work, on the 20th October 2009 at St Oswald's Church starting at 19:00, admission is free.
